Gail gets an MBE
Monday, 15 June 2009.
The Youth Sport Trust would like to congratulate our School Sport Ambassador and Olympic winning badminton player, Gail Emms who received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List at the weekend.
From her badminton debut in 1995, Gail went on to win national, international, Commonwealth, European and world titles. However she is best remembered for her Olympic silver medal with Nathan Robertson in mixed doubles at the Athens Olympics in 2004.
Now retired from competitive sport, Gail works for the Youth Sport Trust as a School Sport Ambassador, in which she promotes the benefits of sport and healthy living to young people. Gail visits schools and sporting events across the country to support our initiatives and help increase young people’s enjoyment of sport as participants, competitors, coaches, leaders, volunteers and young officials.
