Stunning line-up of athlete mentors revealed

Sky Livng For Sport Athlete MentorsOlympic, Paralympic, World, Commonwealth and European Champions across a variety of sports make up this year’s inspirational team of Sky Living For Sport Athlete Mentors.

News of the incredible line-up of top class athletes working on the initiative follows the recent successful Sky Living For Sport Awards held in London.

The team, who came together at Loughborough University for an orientation day to learn more about each other and Sky Living For Sport, will visit schools across the country to offer motivation and support to groups taking part in the scheme.

Each athlete mentor has been selected for their ability to engage with young people through the story of how they achieved sporting success.

This year’s team of world class athletes are:

  • Olympic medallist canoeist, Helen Reeves
  • Paralympic Gold Medallist, 800m and 1500m runner, Tim Prendergast
  • World nr.1 Thai Boxer,  Rachael Mackenzie
  • World medallist and Olympic 800m runner, Joanne Fenn
  • Commonwealth Gold medallist Gymnast, Craig Heap
  • World medallist orienteer, Heather Monro
  • Paralympic medallist swimmer, Fiona Neale
  • England Hockey Player, Kerry Williams
  • World Champion adaptive rower, Helene Raynsford
  • European and Commonwealth gold medallist swimmer, Adam Whitehead

The athlete mentors illustrate the British Athletes’ Commissions “6 Keys to Success” paralleling them with the young peoples lives. Challenging their outlook on life and instilling values around: belief, determination, hard-work, belonging, people skills and time management.
