Believe to Achieve Scholar wins gold

Sam OldhamSam Oldham, 15,  from Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, was part of the Great Britain squad which won the UEG European Junior Gymnastics Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. The team collectively scored 265.475 points and Sam finished in seventh position individually with an overall score of 85.875 points.

Sam is a Believe to Achieve Scholar. Believe to Achieve is a programme that targets support towards squads and hotspots of talent where young athletes are working collaboratively with exceptional coaches; challenging and supporting each other to succeed. Believe to Achieve gives these squads the ability to buy equipment and fund travel, training and competition costs.

Sam has recently moved to Huntingdon from Rushcliffe School in Nottingham where he received The Rushcliffe School Achievement Award for 2007, as he did in 2006 for managing the balance between school work and sporting excellence. Sam shows commitment to both his studies and his gymnastics training. In addition to his school work he dedicates 26 hours per week to training and runs every morning to build stamina.
