Talent Pathways

TalkingIn December 2004 the Government announced additional funding of £519 million for 2006 to 2008 to continue and expand the national PE, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) strategy. Part of this will fund the employment of new Competition Managers in School Sport Partnerships. These will contribute significantly to the ambition that by 2010 a high quality school sport national competition framework implemented locally with opportunities for all will have been developed.

The Youth Sport Trust is working hard to ensure that all young talented people are given the right opportunities to follow a progressive pathway in order to achieve their potential. At Key Stage 2 multi skills clubs are implemented in order to really develop the fundamental movement skills for our young people. Those pupils who are identified as talented in multi skills then progress onto multi skill academies which also act as a transition tool from KS2 to KS3. Regional multi skill academies are being introduced during 2008 to further enhance our talented performers. Additional opportunities are made available through the national talent orientation camp and ultimately the UK school games whereby school aged children are selected by their respective national governing bodies to participate at this pinnacle event.Competition Managers logo
